EA FC 27 Pro Clubs Drop-In & Rush

How 11v11 Drop-In and Stadium Rush work in EA FC 27 Clubs: where to find them, team sizes, positions, AXP and Amps, and what to do when Drop-In will not start.

EA FC 27Updated 9 Oct 20269 min read

Drop-In is how you play Pro Clubs without a club: you walk into a stadium, get matched with strangers and play 11v11 or Rush. In EA FC 27 both modes moved into The Grounds, so they aren’t in a menu any more and they’re not in the Clubhouse either. This guide shows where they are, how they work, what they pay out, and what to do when Drop-In won’t start.

Drop-In and Rush in FC 27 at a glance

EA groups the matchmade stadium modes under Stadium Drop In: 11v11 Drop-In, Stadium Rush and Rush Live Tournaments. On top of that, there’s a separate in-world Rush on a dirt pitch inside The Grounds.

ModeWhereWho you play withAmps
11v11 Drop-InStadium entrance in Parkside (east)Matchmade players of similar skill✔ Yes
Ranked Rush (Stadium Rush)Rush stadium in Zeiza (north)Matchmade players of similar skill✔ Yes
Rush Live TournamentsRush stadium in ZeizaMatchmade, event rules✔ Yes, check the event
In-world RushDirt pitch in Montclair (west)Players in your current Grounds world✔ Yes

None of this needs a club. EA’s own pitch for The Grounds is that “players no longer need a handful of online Clubmates to enjoy Clubs”. If you do have a club, your League, Playoff and Club Tournament matches are in the Clubhouse instead; our how to play Pro Clubs guide covers the difference.

How to join 11v11 Drop-In

  1. Load into The Grounds. You start on the Terrace, the central hub.
  2. Open the map (top left) and set a waypoint for 11v11 Drop-In. It’s in Parkside, east of the Terrace.
  3. Walk to the stadium entrance. The Travel option in the menu only works for street football and Kickabout pitches, not for stadiums or the Clubhouse.
  4. Set up in the lobby. Pick your preferred position and, if you want, change your build in the Archetypes tab (Archetypes → make your changes → back to the lobby).
  5. Wait for matchmaking. Drop-In puts you against players of a similar skill level, like matchmaking in older FC games.

When the match ends you go back to The Grounds, but possibly to a different world from the one you left. If you were with friends, re-invite each other through EA Connect.

Team size and positions

Drop-In is 11v11, but you won’t always have 22 people. Players on the EA Forums report that the AI fills the positions nobody takes, including in goal. One player is the team captain, and one forum post points out that the AI defends better when the captain holds the teammate-contain button (R1/RB). EA hasn’t published a half length for FC 27 Drop-In.

Drop-In is a good way to learn a position or test a build, but it’s also where you’ll meet the most selfish play. Our how to defend in Pro Clubs guide helps when your AI defence is left exposed.

Drop-In preferred position not working

This is the most common Drop-In complaint in FC 27, and it’s a confirmed bug. In its 2 October update EA listed “11v11 drop-in position preferred position not being applied correctly” and said it was testing a potential fix. Title Update 1.0.4 (7 October) didn’t include it, so as of 9 October it’s still open.

What players report on the EA Forums:

  • You pick goalkeeper in the lobby and get put up front or in midfield.
  • Choosing a defender spawns you somewhere else on the pitch.
  • Some players say the build (archetype) you picked in the lobby isn’t applied either.

EA hasn’t offered a workaround. Until the fix arrives, our advice: use a build that copes with more than one position, and if you specifically want to keep goal, play with your club in the Clubhouse, where you pick your own spot in the lobby. Our goalkeeper guide and how to control all players cover the alternatives.

How Stadium Rush works in FC 27

Stadium Rush is the small-sided, fast-paced version of the game. In FC 27 you find it at the Rush stadium in Zeiza, the district north of the Terrace. EA’s Deep Dive describes it as “home to drop-in Rush experiences, including Ranked Rush and Rush Tournaments”. Like 11v11 Drop-In, it’s matchmade by skill and takes you out of your Grounds world.

How many players? EA hasn’t restated the Rush format for FC 27. In FC 25, EA Help described Clubs Rush as 5v5: four human outfield players and an AI goalkeeper, with 7-minute matches, Rush Points that raised your rank, and a Victory Point for your club for every win. Treat those as the FC 25 rules until EA confirms FC 27’s. If Rush is new to you, the Rush tutorial in Learn to Play covers what’s different from 11v11: offsides, corners, penalties and Blue Cards.

Rush Tournaments

EA names Rush Live Tournaments as part of the Rush stadium, and says live events can have their own rounds, rules and rewards. As of 9 October 2026, EA hasn’t published a schedule or rewards for any Rush Tournament. Look for a timer icon on the map, which marks an active live event, and read the event details before you join. Don’t confuse them with Club Tournaments, the 11v11 events with House Rules for full clubs, explained in our Club Tournaments guide.

In-world Rush

There’s a second, more casual Rush inside The Grounds. EA Help puts it in Montclair (west), on a dirt pitch, “separate from the Rush Stadium experience”. It plays like the other small-sided games:

  • 3-minute matches.
  • Manual shooting and Fully Assisted passing.
  • You’re matched with players in your current Grounds world, not through stadium matchmaking.
  • Amps apply, unlike in Kickabouts.

You can watch from the sideline while you wait. One known bug: if your party leader leaves while you’re queued at a Rush pitch, the party can get stuck. EA’s workaround is to walk into the Clubhouse or restart the game.

Rewards: AXP, Coins and Amps

AXP and Grounds Coins. EA’s line is simple: “No matter where you play, on the streets or in a stadium, you will earn AXP and Grounds Coins.” That includes Drop-In and both kinds of Rush. EA hasn’t published how much each mode pays. Your AXP depends on your match rating, so playing out of position (see the bug above) can cost you. EA says limited-time Club Tournaments and Playoffs give greater rewards than regular matches. Our guide to levelling up has the full AXP strategy.

Objectives. Paulo Dybala’s Mentor path covers “Clubs and Stadium events”, and Daily and Weekly Objectives often ask for matches or goals in any mode. Check the Objectives tab on the World Map before you queue so a Drop-In session counts twice.

Amps. EA says Amps “apply to all stadium matches as well as in-world Rush”, so they work in Drop-In and Stadium Rush. That cuts both ways:

  • Each eligible match uses one of the Amp’s matches.
  • Quitting on purpose still uses it. If a teammate or opponent disconnects early, your Amp isn’t used.
  • If you’re saving an Amp for League or Playoff matches, unequip it before a Drop-In session. It goes back to your inventory with its remaining matches.

Drop-In not working? Fixes for matchmaking and connection problems

Work down this list. Everything here comes from EA’s own help pages and known-issues tracker.

1. Check whether Pro Clubs is down

If EA’s servers are down or in maintenance, nothing on your side will help. Our Is Pro Clubs down? page links EA’s server status, @EASFCDirect and the FC Tracker, and lists the Clubs issues EA has acknowledged.

2. Restart, then fix your connection

Drop-In and Rush run on EA’s game data centers, like Clubs League matches. EA Help’s connection steps, in order:

  1. Shut down and restart the game. EA says you can get connection problems if you were matched to a different game data center than usual.
  2. Restart your router (and modem, if separate) and wait at least 30 seconds before turning them back on.
  3. Play wired. If you can’t, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router, or switch to a less crowded Wi-Fi channel.
  4. Stop other traffic on your network: big downloads and HD or 4K streams.
  5. Disconnect any VPN.
  6. Run the EA Connection Quality Report to see how EA rates your connection. If it’s often Okay or Poor, EA also suggests updating your router firmware and turning on QoS.

There’s no setting to pick your Grounds server, region or maximum ping, so don’t go looking for one.

3. Fix party and cross-play problems

  • Stuck in a queue: walk into the Clubhouse to reset, or restart. This is EA’s official workaround.
  • Cross-play: keep it on. Declining the cross-play prompt when joining a Clubs lobby can leave you on an endless loading screen. Our crossplay troubleshooting guide has the full list of crossplay and “matchmaking failed” fixes.
  • Switch 2: Switch 2 players only play with other Switch 2 players, so a mixed party can’t queue together.
  • Update the game. Title Update 1.0.3 (2 October) “improved matchmaking reliability in The Grounds”.

If only your account is affected and none of this helps, contact EA Help.

Playing Drop-In and Rush with friends

EA Help says you can use parties and game queues to play with friends: invite them to your party through EA Connect and follow the on-screen queue instructions. Three things to remember:

  • Re-invite after every stadium match. Drop-In, Stadium Rush and the Clubhouse all take you out of your world, and EA says you and your friends “may not return to the same world”.
  • Cross-play is on by default for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Details in is Pro Clubs cross-platform?
  • Use Drop-In and Rush to scout. You see within a few matches who passes, who tracks back and who talks. Add the good ones and invite them to your club.

EA hasn’t published a maximum party size for FC 27 Drop-In or Stadium Rush.

  1. 01
Walk, don’t look in the Clubhouse. Drop-In is in Parkside and Rush in Zeiza. Set a waypoint on the map.
  2. 02
Pick a flexible build for Drop-In. Until EA fixes the preferred position bug, you may not get the spot you chose.
  3. 03
Save your Amps. Every Drop-In match uses one. Unequip them before a warm-up session.
  4. 04
Stack objectives. Check Daily, Weekly and Dybala objectives before you queue so the same matches pay twice.
  5. 05
Set the right camera. Drop-In uses the Clubs 11v11 Camera and Rush has its own; see our camera settings guide.
  6. 06
Re-invite your party. After every stadium match you may be in a different Grounds world.

Camera values we use are in our camera settings guide, and for a full map of the districts see FC 27 The Grounds explained. Building a Pro for Drop-In? Our PlayStyles guide shows which ones suit each position.

FAQ

Where is Drop-In in FC 27?

11v11 Drop-In has its own stadium entrance in Parkside, the district east of the Terrace. It isn’t in the Clubhouse. Set an 11v11 Drop-In waypoint on the map and walk there.

Is Rush in FC 27 Pro Clubs?

Yes. Stadium Rush, with Ranked Rush and Rush Tournaments, is at the Rush stadium in Zeiza, north of the Terrace. There’s also a casual in-world Rush on a dirt pitch in Montclair.

Why does Drop-In put me in the wrong position?

It’s a known FC 27 bug: EA says the 11v11 Drop-In preferred position isn’t being applied correctly and is testing a fix. As of 9 October 2026 it hasn’t shipped, and there’s no workaround.

Do Drop-In and Rush give AXP?

Yes. Every match in The Grounds, including Drop-In, Stadium Rush and in-world Rush, earns AXP and Grounds Coins. EA hasn’t published how much.

Do Amps work in Drop-In?

Yes. Amps apply to all stadium matches and in-world Rush, so each Drop-In or Rush match uses one of the Amp’s matches. Unequip an Amp if you want to save it.

Can I play Drop-In without a club?

Yes. Drop-In and Stadium Rush match you with strangers, so you don’t need a club or clubmates online.
