The Target is the Ibrahimović archetype: a big, strong striker who holds the ball up, bullies center-backs and attacks every cross. In EA FC 27 its Signature PlayStyle is Precision Header, it plays ST, and it’s the specialist alternative to the Finisher.
This guide covers the best FC 27 Target build: height and weight, how to stay Lengthy, which Specialization fits, PlayStyles, and where your 962 Attribute Points should go.
What the Target is, and when to pick it
The Target has the best Physical ceiling of the forwards and caps Heading Accuracy, Strength and Shot Power at 99. The trade-off: it has the lowest average starting attributes of any archetype (community data), Agility and Sprint Speed are expensive, and Acceleration tops out at 90.
Pick the Target when:
- Your club has wingers or full-backs who cross, ideally a Spark built for crossing (see our Spark build).
- You play two up front and want a big partner next to a quick striker.
- You enjoy hold-up play: back to goal, lay it off, attack the box.
Pick the Finisher if you just want goals. It has the higher Scoring ceiling and the stronger signature, and RealSport101 calls it “the more well-rounded one” of the two. Our Finisher build and best striker build cover it. For every position, see the best archetypes.
What changed for the Target in FC 27
- One Signature PlayStyle. In FC 26 the Target had Precision Header and Power Shot. In FC 27 only Precision Header is a signature (upgrading to Precision Header+ as you level), so Power Shot takes a regular slot.
- Headers are harder to connect. EA’s Gameplay Deep Dive says headers from crosses and corners now need “greater precision, making clean headers less frequent”, with cleaner contact rewarded more.
- Smaller PlayStyle+ edge. EA “reduced the gap between PlayStyle and PlayStyle+” for Precision Header by rebalancing its accuracy boost.
- Crosses go into space more often rather than straight onto a player, so your crosser’s aim matters more.
- Lengthy was toned down. EA narrowed the gap between all three AcceleRATE types and shortened Lengthy’s triggered runs.
- Masteries. Level 10 with the Target gives +1 Balance and +1 Jumping to every archetype you play.

The Target+ Target Man is the build most outlets recommend (Dexerto runs Target+ at 6’4”). Jumping 92 is the stat that wins headers and Volleys 90 helps with everything that drops in the box. The catch is Agility 90, which is expensive on the Target and pulls you toward Controlled (see below).
The Runner Battering Ram follows the most-copied Target on Pro Clubs HQ, a Haaland build at 6’5” and 194 lbs (88 kg), Lengthy, with Sprint Speed and Finishing at 89. Runner’s targets (Sprint Speed, Strength, Att. Positioning) all fit a Lengthy striker who runs in behind, and none of them raise Agility, so Lengthy is easy to keep. It’s the most expensive Specialization, almost all of it Sprint Speed.
Best height and weight for the Target in FC 27
The Target can be 177–195 cm (5’10”–6’5”) and 80–100 kg (176–220 lbs). Its default body is 186 cm and 90 kg, and it starts Lengthy. Taller adds Jumping, Sprint Speed and Strength; heavier adds Balance, Jumping and Strength but costs Acceleration, Agility and Sprint Speed.
| Recommended | Why | |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 6′3″–6′5″ (190–195 cm) | More Jumping and Strength; Lengthy-safe |
| Weight | 80–85 kg (176–187 lbs) | Lighter = quicker; Strength comes from AP |
| AcceleRATE | Lengthy | Holds top speed over distance |
| Skill Moves | 2–3 ★ | You lay it off, you don’t dribble |
| Weak Foot | 4 ★ minimum | Starts at 2★, so budget for it |
Most players build the Target at maximum height and minimum weight (195 cm and 80 kg is the most-built body in the community data, with 57% Lengthy). The top 100 clubs agree: their Targets have a median height of 194 cm.

Target Specializations: Target+, Runner or Roamer?
| Specialization | PlayStyle+ | Unlock | AP from base | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Target+ | Acrobatic+ | Jumping 92 · Agility 90 · Volleys 90 | ~425 | Aerial target men (default pick) |
| Roamer | Incisive Pass+ | Short Passing 92 · Vision 90 · Long Passing 90 | ~437 | Targets who drop deep and link play |
| Runner | Enforcer+ | Sprint Speed 92 · Strength 90 · Att. Positioning 90 | ~474 | Lengthy strikers who run in behind |
Target+ gives the stats a target man needs most, and Acrobatic+ (“unique acrobatic volley animations”, per EA) is a fun swap if your club crosses low and hard. Roamer is the Zlatan option: Short Passing is cheap on the Target, and Incisive Pass+ makes your through balls “far more accurate”. Runner costs the most, but its stats keep you Lengthy and Enforcer+ makes shoulder challenges and shielding “greatly” more effective, which is exactly how a Target holds the ball up. To compare them with every other archetype’s options, see all Pro Clubs Specializations.
Attribute caps and key attributes
The Target’s costs are lopsided. Some striker stats are cheap, others cost a fortune:
| Attribute | Cap | AP to max | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heading Accuracy | 99 | ~374 | ✔ First after your Specialization |
| Strength | 99 | ~374 | ✔ High (keeps you Lengthy) |
| Shot Power | 99 | ~374 | ◑ After Finishing |
| Jumping | 96 | ~189 | ✔ 92 for Target+ |
| Finishing | 96 | ~268 | ✔ High |
| Acceleration | 90 | ~76 | ✔ Cheap: max it |
| Ball Control | 92 | ~92 | ✔ Cheap |
| Short Passing | 96 | ~136 | ◑ Cheap, for link-up |
| Agility | 92 | ~249 | ◑ Only to 90 for Target+ |
| Sprint Speed | 92 | ~274 | ◑ Expensive (Runner only) |
Spend order for the Target+ Target Man:
- Acceleration to 90 (about 76 AP). It’s the cheapest fix for the Target’s slow start.
- Target+ targets: Jumping 92, Agility 90, Volleys 90 (about 425 AP).
- Strength until you’re Lengthy again, then Heading Accuracy.
- Finishing to 90 (about 143 AP from base) and a 4★ weak foot.
- Shot Power and Ball Control with what’s left.
Plan the split in our Build Planner, or see every Target cap on the Target archetype page.
PlayStyles for the Target
You have the signature slot plus three regular slots at level 40. Requirements come from community data (Pro Clubs HQ).
- Precision Header+ (signature): headers with “greatly increased accuracy and power”.
- Power Shot (Finishing 80, Shot Power 75, Long Shots 80): your old FC 26 signature, now a regular pick for finishing from the edge of the box.
- First Touch (Composure 80, Ball Control 75): cleaner control with your back to goal.
- Enforcer (Balance 80, Strength 75, Ball Control 80): stronger shoulder challenges and shielding while dribbling. Press Proven (Strength 75, Composure 80, Ball Control 80) is the alternative if you hold the ball at jog speed.
- Quick Step (Acceleration 75, Sprint Speed 80, Stamina 80): for the Runner build, a faster burst when you go in behind.
The Target in the top 100 clubs
We analyzed EA’s public Clubs data for the top 100 clubs’ last 10 league matches (967 matches, 8 October 2026). The Target is rare at the top:
| Stat | Target | Finisher for comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Share of all players | 2.2% (23 players) | 16% |
| Clubs using one | 21 of 100 | 81 of 100 |
| Match rating | 7.55 | 7.79 |
| Goals per game | 0.83 | 1.14 |
| Assists per game | 0.42 | 0.56 |
| Pass accuracy | 84% | 82% |
| Median height | 194 cm (6′4″) | 173 cm |
Only 20 of the 257 forwards in the sample were Targets, about one in thirteen. The ones who play it go tall (middle 50% between 182 and 195 cm) and score a respectable 0.83 goals per game, with the best pass accuracy of any forward archetype: a sign they’re used for link-up as much as for headers. With 23 players, treat these numbers as a rough guide. The full breakdown is on our Pro Clubs meta page.
Tips for playing the Target
- 01Shield, then lay it off. Back to goal, hold the defender off with Enforcer or Press Proven, and play the simple pass to a runner.
- 02Attack the near post. Crosses go into space more often in FC 27. Move early and make the crosser’s job easy.
- 03Partner a quick striker. In a front two, a Target next to an Explosive Finisher pulls center-backs apart.
- 04Max Acceleration first. It costs about 76 AP to max on the Target and fixes the slow first few yards.
- 05Watch the AcceleRATE label. Agility for Target+ can flip you to Controlled. Add Strength or accept it, but know which you are.
- 06Level to 10 for the Mastery. +1 Jumping and +1 Balance help every archetype you play, especially defenders.
FAQ
What is the best height for a Target in FC 27?
6’3”–6’5” (190–195 cm) at 80–85 kg. That’s Lengthy-safe and maximizes Jumping and Strength. The median Target in the top 100 clubs is 194 cm.
What is the Target’s Signature PlayStyle in FC 27?
Precision Header, which upgrades to Precision Header+ as you level. Power Shot was a second signature in FC 26 but isn’t in FC 27, so most builds add it as a regular PlayStyle.
Which Target Specialization is best?
Target+ (Jumping 92, Agility 90, Volleys 90, about 425 AP) for an aerial target man. Runner (about 474 AP) for a Lengthy striker who runs in behind, and Roamer (about 437 AP) for a Target who drops deep to create.
Is the Target worth it over the Finisher?
Only in the right team. Every outlet we checked prefers the Finisher, and in the top 100 clubs Finishers outnumber Targets about seven to one. If your club crosses a lot or plays two strikers, a tall Target still earns its place.
The Target is a specialist. Build it tall and light, max the cheap Acceleration, unlock Target+ and add enough Strength to stay Lengthy, and keep Precision Header+ equipped. Make sure your club actually crosses the ball: otherwise a Finisher does the job better.
