Yes, you can run your own Pro Clubs tournament in EA FC 27, but not inside the game. FC 27 has no option to create a Clubs cup between clubs you choose. The tournaments in the Clubhouse are EA’s events, matched against random clubs. So a community cup works the way it always has: you run the bracket, rules and results outside the game, and every tie is played as a Club Friendly. We ran two Prestige Cups in the PRO11 league, and this is how we’d set one up today.
Can you create a tournament in Pro Clubs?
Not as a built-in feature. Here’s what FC 27 does and doesn’t offer:
| Option | What it is | Use for your own cup? |
|---|---|---|
| Club Friendly | A match against a club you choose | ✔ Yes, every tie is one |
| Club Tournaments | EA’s limited-time events with House Rules, matched against random clubs | ✘ You can’t pick opponents |
| League and Playoffs | Matchmade ranked seasons and the end-of-season Playoffs | ✘ Matchmade |
| Tournaments mode (offline) | Custom league or knockout with real teams | ✘ Not for Clubs |
More on the EA events in Club Tournaments and House Rules and Clubs Leagues and Playoffs. For a whole season instead of a cup, read how to run a Pro Clubs league.
Step 1: Choose a format and size
Keep it simple. Every extra round is another evening that a club might not turn up.
| Format | Clubs | Matches | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single elimination | 8 / 16 / 32 | 7 / 15 / 31 | One-off cups over 1–2 weeks |
| Groups of 4, then knockout | 16 (4 groups → QF) | 24 group + 7 knockout | Everyone plays at least 3 matches |
| Double elimination | 8 / 16 | about 2× clubs | Fairer, but longer and harder to schedule |
| Swiss | 16–32 | clubs ÷ 2 per round | Big fields with no knockout drama |
For knockout ties, decide how you break a draw. In the PRO11 Prestige Cup we played two legs with away goals, and a third golden-goal match if it was still level. A single match is quicker but needs a clear tie-break rule. The big community leagues use two legs too: VPG’s European cups play two legs with away goals, then extra time and penalties.
Step 2: Write the rules before sign-ups
Most cup arguments come from rules nobody wrote down. These are the ones that matter, with what the established leagues do:
- 01Minimum players. Set how many humans a club needs to start, and whether a human goalkeeper is required. VPG uses 11, 8 or 6 depending on the league level; a club that can’t field the minimum loses 3-0.
- 02Lateness and no-shows. A fixed wait (5–15 minutes is common; VPG allows only 5 in cups), then a default win. Cup matches usually can’t be rescheduled, so say so.
- 03Early disconnects. Allow a restart if someone drops in the first minutes and no goal has been scored. VPG uses 10 in-game minutes; we used 5, once per match.
- 04Later disconnects. Agree whether the score stands or the remaining minutes are replayed from the same score. VPG replays only the minutes left, with video proof.
- 05Rosters. Players must be registered with their gamertag before the cup and locked before the knockouts. No ringers.
- 06Exploits. Anything EA bans counts as cheating in your cup too, including glitches, collusion and stat manipulation.
- 07Region and ping. Name a region. If the inviting club has very high ping, it should hand over to the other side (VPG: 80+ ping means a new host).
- 08Proof and disputes. Screenshot the final score; record video if you plan to complain. One admin decides, and the admin’s decision beats the in-game record.
Our league rules guide has a longer rulebook from 936 PRO11 matches, including the restart and default rules we used.
Step 3: Set up the bracket and sign-ups
You don’t need a website. A free bracket tool plus a Discord server covers everything:
| Tool | Free plan | Formats |
|---|---|---|
| Challonge | Unlimited tournaments, up to 256 participants each (with ads) | Single and double elimination, round robin, Swiss, two-stage |
| start.gg | Free to create; 6% fee only if you take online payments | Elimination, Swiss, round robin, pools into a bracket |
| Toornament | Up to 32 participants per tournament | All common formats |
| Battlefy | Organizer tools with check-in and staff roles (EA uses it for FC Pro qualifiers) | Elimination, round robin, Swiss |
Use a Discord server for announcements, a results channel and disputes. Our Pro Clubs Discord guide covers setting one up and where to find clubs to invite. On start.gg, note that times show in the organizer’s time zone, so post kick-off times with a time zone in the rules.
Step 4: Play each tie as a Club Friendly
- In your club lobby, open Settings and set Match Type to Friendly, then challenge the other club. The club you challenge needs My Club → Other → Settings → Available for Friendlies turned on, so ask every club to switch it on when they sign up.
- Club Friendlies run on EA’s servers, so no player “hosts” the match. If one side gets high ping, check the matchmaking region in Clubs Settings; EA staff recommend this for friendly ping problems in FC 27.
- Crossplay: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC clubs can play each other with crossplay on. Switch 2 clubs can only play other Switch 2 clubs, so keep them in a separate bracket. See is Pro Clubs cross-platform?
- Results: EA’s Clubs page keeps your recent match history with every player’s stats, which is handy backup proof next to a screenshot.
- There’s no spectator mode for 11v11 Clubs. If you want to stream the final, stream from a player’s view.
Step 5: Schedule rounds people can make
- Plan about 30 minutes per match, including the lobby. VPG schedules back-to-back league games 25 minutes apart.
- One round per evening, or one per week for groups. A two-legged tie fits into an hour.
- Evenings win. In the PRO11 league, 86% of matches kicked off between 20:00 and 23:00 UK time. Monday, Thursday and Tuesday were the busiest days, and hardly anyone played on Saturdays.
- Set a deadline for each round and a default if a match isn’t played by then. Let clubs agree on a time within the window and post it in Discord.
A 16-club cup with four groups and a knockout takes about two weeks: three group evenings, then quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final on three more evenings.
Prizes, entry fees and EA’s rules
EA allows community tournaments if you follow its EA SPORTS FC Community Tournament Guidelines. The key points:
- A Pro Clubs event must be online-only, and can’t use real clubs or leagues in its branding without their permission.
- Entry fees: at most $20 per participant, only to cover your costs.
- Prize pools must be published before the tournament starts, and all your tournaments together can’t give more than $10,000 in a calendar year.
- You can stream it, but not on TV or a paid platform. No EA logos. Show this line: “This tournament is not affiliated with or sponsored by Electronic Arts Inc. or its licensors.”
- No sponsors from banned categories such as gambling, alcohol, energy drinks, crypto or coin selling, and no sponsor names in the tournament title.
If you charge per club, divide it by the players in a squad to stay under the per-participant cap, or ask EA through the licence request address on the guidelines page. This is a summary, not legal advice.

Can PS5 and PC clubs play each other in a tournament?
Yes, if both clubs have crossplay on. PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC share one pool. Switch 2 clubs can’t play them.
How long does a Pro Clubs match take?
Plan about 30 minutes per match including the lobby. Big leagues schedule games 25 minutes apart.
Can you give prize money for a Pro Clubs tournament?
Yes, within EA’s community tournament rules: online only, entry fee of no more than $20 per participant, and no more than $10,000 in prizes per year.
