The Maestro is the Toni Kroos archetype: a midfielder who controls the tempo, finds the right pass and quietly does the defensive work too. In EA FC 27 its Signature PlayStyle is Pinged Pass, it plays CM, CAM or CDM, and it’s the most used midfield archetype among the best clubs in the game.
This guide covers the best FC 27 Maestro build: height and weight, which of the three Specializations to chase, the attributes worth maxing, and what the top 100 clubs actually do with it.
What the Maestro is in FC 27
FC 27 has 13 archetypes, and four are built for midfield: Disruptor, Recycler, Maestro and Creator. The Maestro is the all-rounder of the four. In community data it has the highest average attribute ceiling of all 13 archetypes (about 94.5) and the best starting values, so a level 1 Maestro already feels like a footballer.
Its signature, Pinged Pass, upgrades to Pinged Pass+ as you level the archetype. That’s the fast, driven pass into feet, ideal for moving the ball quicker than the defence can shift. You get it without spending a single Attribute Point on a Specialization. One FC 27 change: EA removed Pinged Pass’s small bonus to the receiver’s first touch, so pass to teammates who can control it.
Maestro, Creator, Recycler or Disruptor?
| Archetype | Signature | Best at | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maestro | Pinged Pass | Doing everything well | ✔ You want one midfielder who passes, carries and defends |
| Creator | Incisive Pass | Through balls and assists | ◑ You sit at CAM and feed runners |
| Recycler | Intercept | Safe passing from deep | ◑ You hold the CDM spot and rarely go forward |
| Disruptor | Jockey | Winning the ball back | ◑ Your club needs a pure ball-winner |
If you live at CAM and only care about the final ball, read our Creator build. If you sit in front of the back line, compare the Recycler and Disruptor. For a CAM-only comparison of Maestro, Creator and Magician, see our best CAM build. Everyone else should play Maestro: RealSport101 picks it for CDM, CM and CAM, and Khel Now picks it over the Creator at CAM.
Best height and weight for the Maestro
The Maestro can be 162–188 cm (5’4”–6’2”) and 65–85 kg (143–187 lbs). It starts at 175 cm and 75 kg, which is Controlled.
| Recommended | Why | |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 5′7″–5′9″ (170–175 cm) | Top-100 clubs play their Maestros at a median 172 cm |
| Weight | 65–72 kg (143–159 lbs) | Lighter adds Acceleration, Agility and Sprint Speed |
| AcceleRATE | Controlled (Explosive optional) | Acceleration is one of the Maestro’s most expensive stats |
| Skill Moves | 4 ★ | Starts at 2★; 4★ costs about 30 AP |
| Weak Foot | 4 ★ (5 ★ late) | Starts at 3★; 4★ costs about 25 AP, 5★ about 65 AP |
Shorter than you think. Pro Clubs HQ’s build data shows 175 cm and 65 kg as the most-built Maestro body. EA’s match data for the top 100 clubs puts the median at 172 cm, with the middle half between 168 and 177 cm. Good players are going small, because a midfielder turns far more often than he wins headers.
Explosive or Controlled? Explosive needs 182 cm or shorter, Agility 65+, Agility at least 10 above Strength, and Acceleration 80+. A short, light Maestro already clears the Agility rules, so Acceleration 80 is the only real cost. It’s worth it at CAM, but EA narrowed the gap between AcceleRATE types in FC 27, so about three in four Maestro builds in the community data stay Controlled. Don’t ruin your passing stats to chase the label. More in our AcceleRATE guide.

The Maestro+ Playmaker is the most-copied Maestro build: three of the four top level-40 Maestro builds tracked by Pro Clubs HQ hit exactly Vision 92, Balance 90 and Dribbling 90. Dexerto’s FC 27 midfield build uses Maestro+ too. It’s also the most expensive route, so treat the targets as a level 27–30 goal, not a starting point.
The Heartbeat Box-to-Box is the build we’d pick for a CM who has to cover ground. Heartbeat is the Maestro’s cheapest Specialization: Stamina 90 and Aggression 90 cost about 119 AP each, roughly half of what Dribbling 90 costs a Maestro. Aggression 90 also covers half of the Intercept PlayStyle requirement (Aggression 80, Interceptions 80), and Interceptions is one of the cheapest stats a Maestro can buy. With long-term fatigue partly back in FC 27 since Title Update 1.0.1, Stamina is no longer a dump stat either.
The Crasher Late Runner is for a Maestro who arrives in the box. Composure, Ball Control and Finishing are its targets, and Pro Clubs HQ’s “Magnet” build uses exactly that set. Finishing is expensive for a Maestro, so only go this way if your club needs goals from midfield.
Maestro Specializations: Maestro+, Heartbeat or Crasher?
| Specialization | PlayStyle+ | Requirements | AP from base | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heartbeat | Relentless+ | Agility 92 · Stamina 90 · Aggression 90 | about 455 | Box-to-box CM, double pivot |
| Crasher | First Touch+ | Composure 92 · Ball Control 90 · Finishing 90 | about 522 | Goalscoring 8 or CAM |
| Maestro+ | Technical+ | Vision 92 · Balance 90 · Dribbling 90 | about 544 | Playmaker who carries the ball |
All three cost more than half of your 962 AP. If you put every point into the targets, Heartbeat becomes reachable around level 24, Crasher around level 26 and Maestro+ around level 27. In practice you’ll also buy passing stats along the way, so expect to unlock your Specialization in the 30s.
Which one? If you dribble out of midfield, Maestro+ (its Vision and Dribbling are stats you’d buy anyway). If you run all game and win the ball back, Heartbeat. If you score, Crasher. You don’t need any of them to play the role: RealSport101 even advises against early Specialization spending on a Maestro. To compare them with every other archetype’s options, see all Pro Clubs Specializations.
Maestro attribute caps and AP costs
The Maestro can reach 99 in Vision, Long Passing, Ball Control, Composure, Reactions, Agility, Free Kick Accuracy and Penalties. Its pace is capped at 90 for both Acceleration and Sprint Speed.
Each archetype also has key attributes that cost fewer AP per point. For the Maestro, the big one is Short Passing, which is in the cheapest cost tier. Interceptions, Defensive Awareness and Strength are cheap too, which is why the Maestro makes such a good CDM.
| Attribute | Start → cap | AP to max | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short Passing | 75 → 96 | ~136 | ✔ Max it first (cheapest tier) |
| Vision | 75 → 99 | ~374 | ✔ High (92 for Maestro+) |
| Ball Control | 75 → 99 | ~374 | ✔ High |
| Reactions | 65 → 99 | ~321 | ✔ High (Tiki Taka needs 80) |
| Composure | 75 → 99 | ~374 | ✔ High |
| Long Passing | 75 → 99 | ~374 | ◑ 85 for Pinged Pass, more later |
| Interceptions | 75 → 92 | ~81 | ✔ Cheap, buy it on CM and CDM |
| Defensive Awareness | 65 → 90 | ~82 | ◑ Cheap, for CDM |
| Agility | 75 → 99 | ~467 | ✘ Expensive, 92 only for Heartbeat |
| Dribbling | 65 → 96 | ~389 | ✘ Expensive, 90 only for Maestro+ |
| Acceleration | 70 → 90 | ~209 | ◑ Only if you want Explosive |
The real limit is your budget, not the caps. Getting just the six core stats (Vision, Short Passing, Ball Control, Reactions, Composure and Long Passing) to 90 costs about 700 AP. Every Maestro build is a trade between those and a Specialization.
Masteries help. Levelling the Maestro to 10 gives +1 Reactions and +1 Ball Control to every archetype you play, and Pro Clubs HQ’s data adds another +1 Ball Control at level 30. If you main the Maestro, level a Creator (Vision, Free Kick Accuracy) and a Recycler (Defensive Awareness, Short Passing) to 10 as well: their Masteries land on Maestro stats.
How to spend your Attribute Points by level
You get about 224 AP by level 10, 397 by level 20, 674 by level 30 and 962 by level 40. Whatever the build, buy Short Passing first (it’s cheap), then Reactions and Ball Control to 80 for Tiki Taka, then Vision, Curve and Long Passing for Incisive Pass. Leave the expensive Specialization stat (Dribbling for Maestro+, Agility for Heartbeat, Finishing for Crasher) for levels 20–30. Our CAM build guide has a level-by-level Maestro path.
Resets are free in FC 27 and you can move single attributes, so you can follow PlayStyle thresholds as you go. Try any of these builds in the Build Planner (each card above has a link), and see all the Maestro’s starting values on the Maestro archetype page.
PlayStyles for the Maestro
You get one signature PlayStyle plus three regular slots, which unlock at levels 5, 15 and 40.
| PlayStyle | Unlock | Why a Maestro wants it |
|---|---|---|
| Pinged Pass(+) | Signature | Driven passes into feet; the reason to pick the archetype |
| Tiki Taka | Reactions 80 · Ball Control 80 · Short Pass 75 | One-touch combinations in tight spaces |
| Incisive Pass | Vision 75 · Long Pass 80 · Curve 80 | Through balls when your striker runs |
| First Touch | Composure 80 · Ball Control 75 | Clean turns when you receive under pressure |
| Intercept | Aggression 80 · Interceptions 80 | Box-to-box and CDM builds |
| Technical | Balance 80 · Ball Control 75 · Dribbling 80 | If you carry the ball more than you pass |
Tiki Taka and Incisive Pass go on almost every Maestro. Use the last slot for First Touch (playmaker), Intercept (box-to-box) or Finesse Shot (Crasher).
The Maestro in the top 100 clubs
We pulled the last 10 league matches of the top 100 clubs on EA’s leaderboard (967 matches, 1,059 players, 8 October 2026). The Maestro is the third most used archetype overall (12.8% of players, behind Finisher and Boss) and by far the most common midfielder: 67 of the 100 clubs field at least one.
| Per match | Maestro | Creator | Recycler | Disruptor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Match rating | 7.69 | 7.61 | 7.59 | 7.44 |
| Assists | 0.33 | 0.75 | 0.08 | 0.08 |
| Goals | 0.16 | 0.25 | 0.05 | 0.05 |
| Tackles | 1.66 | 1.46 | 1.48 | 1.73 |
| Pass accuracy | 82% | 78% | 86% | 83% |
| Median height | 172 cm | 171 cm | 182 cm | 178 cm |
Two things stand out. The Maestro’s 7.69 match rating is the joint second highest of any archetype, behind only the Finisher. And it makes 1.66 tackles per match, more than the Recycler and second only to the Disruptor. Top players aren’t using the Maestro as a pure passer: they use it as a complete midfielder, which is exactly what the Heartbeat build is for. Full breakdown on our Pro Clubs meta page. Tips for playing the Maestro
- 01Pass first, then move. Pinged Pass+ is fastest into feet over short and medium distances. Play it and offer the return straight away.
- 02Don’t sprint with the ball. Your pace is capped at 90. Let the ball do the running and keep Composure and Ball Control high instead.
- 03Hold your position in a double pivot. In a 4-2-3-1, one Maestro goes and one stays. Agree which before kick-off.
- 04Buy Interceptions early on CM. It’s one of your cheapest stats, and winning the ball is half the job.
FAQ
What is the best Maestro build in FC 27?
A 5’7”–5’9” Maestro at 65–72 kg that keeps Pinged Pass+ in the signature slot, uses Tiki Taka and Incisive Pass, and spends first on Short Passing, Vision, Ball Control, Reactions and Composure. Unlock Maestro+ late, or Heartbeat if you play box-to-box.
What is the Maestro’s Signature PlayStyle in FC 27?
Pinged Pass, which upgrades to Pinged Pass+ as you level the archetype. Its three Specializations offer Technical+, First Touch+ or Relentless+ as an optional swap.
Can the Maestro play CDM?
Yes. Interceptions, Defensive Awareness and Strength are all cheap for the Maestro, and RealSport101 lists it as a CDM pick. If you never leave your position and only recycle the ball, a Recycler has the better defensive caps.
Which Maestro Specialization is cheapest?
Heartbeat, at about 455 AP from the Maestro’s starting values (Agility 92, Stamina 90, Aggression 90). Crasher costs about 522 AP and Maestro+ about 544 AP, according to community data.
Maestro or Creator at CAM?
Maestro if you want a complete player who can also defend; Creator if you only care about the final pass. In the top 100 clubs Creators average 0.75 assists per match against the Maestro’s 0.33. See our Creator build.
The Maestro is the safest pick in FC 27 Clubs and the most used midfielder among the top 100 clubs. Keep it short and light, max Short Passing early, keep Pinged Pass+, and choose Maestro+ for a playmaker or Heartbeat for a box-to-box CM.
